“At Wetpaint, we are committed to helpingeducators bring the power of wikis to the learning process.”

Wikis in Education, is a wiki made by teachers, updated and keptby teachers, and designed specifically for teachers. I found this wiki helpful for these exact reasons. It is geared directly for us, teachers. The wiki is designed to allow teachers to ask questions that they may have about using a wiki as an educational tool. Teachers, who have experience with wikis in the classroom, answer the questions. There is a tremendous amount of links to current wikis. This wiki also has also great links like, “Get tips on using wikis in your classroom!”,” How do you Wiki?”, and “Education Forum”. I think that this wiki would be a great place for teachers who are new to wikis to start.

Using Wikis in Education

Using Wiki in Education, is another wiki designed to help teachers understand how a wiki can be used in an educational setting. This wiki startsoff by explaining what a wiki is, but it also explains a wiki by using common terms. A wiki is explained as the collision of a website and a word document. Today, every teacher uses the internet and most use Microsoft Word. Often, teachers who shy away from using

wikis in the classroom, often do so because of their lack of knowledge of technical terms. I think that by describing a wiki with these commonterms, it will help to ease any anxiousness that a teacher may have. This particular wiki is from a science background, but I still choose to use it as an example because it has great ideas for collaboration and group work. The wiki has links to Project development with peer review, Group authoring, Presentations, and Assessment.

Art Talk is a wiki created by elementary education graduate students at the University of South Alabama. This site is great to share ideas in order to better understand and respond to the visual arts from K-12. It includes videos, biographies and the work of many different artists. There are also examples of student work and bulletin boards from different schools.

Arts Education Professional Development

This wiki has an extensive list of art education books, dvds, videos, music cds, and kits. It is a great resource for teachers to get information about anything from theater to figure drawing. However, it would be improved if there were more visuals and if the resources were listed as links.
